Professional, Loving Care
About Johnny
Born at nearby San Leandro Memorial Hospital in 1966, area native Johnny Cavalli’s family members have included a menagerie of animals—including dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, rats, fish, a tarantula, and even baby chicks. As a child, Johnny worked with and cared for animals in 4H and at the Oakland Zoo, and he has volunteered hundreds of hours for the (now-closed) Alameda County animal control facility on Fairmont Drive in San Leandro, and the East Bay SPCA in Dublin.
In the last six months of 2014 alone, Johnny logged nearly 100 volunteer hours as he helped cared for and train hundreds of lonely and scared shelter animals.

From One Pet Lover to Another
At home, Johnny cares for two beautiful and loving rescue dogs: Levi and Simon. Each weighs about 55 pounds. Their ages and breeds remain a mystery. Levi appears to be a 7-year-old Bluetick Coonhound. The grooves on the back of his canines suggest that he spent his puppy life trying to chew his way out of something, like a cage in a puppy mill. Simon seems to be about 5 years old and is of unknown heritage. Some argue he is a shepherd-mix, others see hound. Simon struggles with fear and trust issues.
Johnny intercepted Simon on a return trip to the shelter after a friend decided he could not cope with Simon’s lack of trust around strange dogs and humans. Through patient and consistent care and understanding, Levi and Simon have made tremendous progress—and I am very proud of them.

What Makes Us Special
Johnny created Canine Companion and Concierge after retiring from a demanding 25-year career at AT&T. He knows from experience the high expectations and pressures of work life in the highly competitive Bay Area job market, and he understands how family and personal demands on our time make it difficult for many of us to give our pets the consistent exercise and care they need.
Johnny will work with you to arrange dog walking, pet-sitting, and pet taxi services on a flexible basis that works for you. Johnny also works with best-in-class suppliers he can recommend to assist you with any additional services your pet might need.
Active in Our Community
You might recognize Johnny from his participation at PTA meetings at Vannoy or Independent Elementary, Canyon Middle School, or Castro Valley High School, where his son—now a senior at CVHS—has attended school. You might have seen him at Earl Warren Dog Park, walking dogs down your street, or working out at 24 Hour Fitness. More recently, you might have spotted his colorful AnilmalLimo cruising down the Boulevard, or parked at the SPCA, or one of the pet supply stores.
If you see him, be sure to say "Hello." He's pretty dog-gone friendly. When pets see Johnny, they get pretty excited. They know an adventure—full of exercise, interaction, and love—is about to begin!
